Our tomato season is in full swing now, and it's looking like a great crop! As promised, we went from a trickle early last week to a truckload by the weekend; then spent just about all day today picking even more tomatoes. I hope you're all hungry for tomatoes this week!! We do have a large enough quantity coming now that we can offer a discounted price on larger quantities.
Tomato tastings!! Stop by the Downtown Raleigh Farmers Market this Wednesday July 1st for a free tomato tasting! The Downtown Raleigh Market's official summer tomato tasting is scheduled this year for July 29 - a bit late for our purposes. Our tomatoes are peaking now, so we're going DIY with our own 'mater tasting this week. We have over a dozen different varieties available, and you'll be able to sample them all. If you can't catch up with us this Wednesday downtown, there will be another tasting hosted by the Midtown Farmers Market on Saturday, July 11.
In the few spare moments we can wrestle a bit of time away from the tomato field, we are also in the process of digging, curing, and storing the bulk of our potato crop this week. Potatoes will continue to be available for the rest of the summer, but this is your last chance to get them truly 'new' and freshly dug. Sorry, but we have very limited amounts of sweet corn this week (thank you, crows); availability will probably be limited to just our CSA members. More corn on the way next week!
Thank you all so much for your business, eat well, and have yourself a great week and a fabulous 4th!
